Once upon a time, there lived a cruel lion in the forest. He was very greedy also. He started killing animals of the forest. Seeing this, all animals came together to the lion and offered him a plan. They said that every day one animal would come to him so that he could eat that animal. The lion agreed. One day it was the turn of one rabbit. The rabbit was wise and old. It took much time to go to the lion. The lion became angry and impatient for the delay. But the wise rabbit was calm and slowly told the lion, that it was not his fault. There was another cruel lion in a deep well filled with water. He attacked him on the way. Somehow he escaped to reach there safely. Hearing this, the lion became very angry. He ordered the rabbit to lead him to that well. Then the rabbit showed the lion his own reflection in the water of the well. The lion became furious and started roaring. Naturally, his image in the water was also equally angry. Then the lion jumped into the water to attack the other lion. As a result the lion lost his life in the well. Thus the wise rabbit saved the forest from the clutches of the greedy lion.
বাংলা অনুবাদঃ একসময়, জঙ্গলে এক নিষ্ঠুর সিংহ থাকত। সে খুব লোভীও ছিল। সে জঙ্গলের পশুদের মারতে শুরু করল। এসব দেখে, সব পশুরা একত্রিত হয়ে সিংহের কাছে এলো এবং তাকে একটা প্রস্তাব দিল। তারা বলল প্রতিদিন তার কাছে একটা পশু আসবে যাতে সে তাকে খেতে পারে। সিংহ এতে রাজি হল। একদিন এক খরগোশের পালা এলো। খরগোশটি বয়স্ক ও বিচক্ষণ ছিল। সে সিংহের কাছে যেতে অনেক সময় নিল। সিংহ দেরির কারণে খুব রেগে গেল ও অধৈর্য্য হয়ে পড়ল। কিন্তু বিচক্ষণ খরগোশ মাথা ঠান্ডা রেখে সিংহকে ধীরে ধীরে বলল যে এতে তার কোনো দোষ নেই। একটা গভীর কুয়োর মধ্যে থাকা আরেক নিষ্ঠুর সিংহ তাকে আক্রমণ করেছিল। কোনোভাবে সে প্রাণ বাঁচিয়ে পালিয়ে এসেছে। এটা শুনে, সিংহ খুব রেগে গেল। সিংহ খরগোশকে বলল, তাকে সেই কুয়োটার রাস্তা দেখাতে। খরগোশ কুয়োর জলে সিংহের নিজের প্রতিবিম্ব দেখালো। সিংহ ভয়ংকর রেগে গিয়ে গর্জন শুরু করল। ফলত, জলে তার প্রতিবিম্ব একইভাবে রেগে গেলো। তারপর এই সিংহটি ওই সিংহটিকে আক্রমণের উদ্দেশ্যে জলে ঝাঁপ দিলো। তার ফলে সিংহ নিজের জীবন হারালো। এভাবে বিচক্ষণ খরগোশ জঙ্গলকে লোভী সিংতের হাত থেকে বাঁচালো।

সিংহ খরগোশকে আদেশ করল সেই কুয়োটার কাছে নিয়ে যেতে যেখানে আরেকটা সিংহ থাকে।

Ans. The lion saw his own image in the water but thought it as another lion.
সিংহটি জলে তার নিজের প্রতিবিম্ব দেখতে পেয়েছিল কিন্তু সেটাকে আরেকটা সিংহ বলে ভেবেছিল।

Points: A dog and a donkey traveling together-a basket of bread on the donkey's ats and back- both feel hungry-donkey eats grass on the roadside-dog asks donkey for a piece of breadof bread—donkey refuses — wolf appears-donkey requests dog to stand by-dog refuses-wolf kills the donkey.
Ans. Once a dog and a donkey were travelling together. The donkey was carrying a basket of bread. After some time both felt hungry. Though the donkey could eat the grass on the riverside, the dog had nothing to eat. He asked donkey for a piece of bread but he refused. Later a wolf appeared there. The donkey got frightened and requested the dog to stand by. But the dog refused and the wolf killed the donkey.
একবার একটি কুকুর ও একটি গাধা একসাথে যাচ্ছিল। গাধাটা একটা রুটির ঝুড়ি বইছিল। কিছুক্ষণ বাদে দুজনেরই খিদে পেল। যদিও গাধাটা রাস্তার ধারের ঘাস খেতে পারছিল, কুকুরের কোনো কিছু খাওয়ার ছিল না। সে গাধার কাছে একটা রুটি চাইল কিন্তু গাধা দিতে চাইল না। পরে একটা নেকড়ে আসে। গাধা ভয় পেয়ে কুকুরকে পাশে দাঁড়াতে বলল। কিন্তু কুকুর তা করতে অস্বীকার করল ও নেকড়েটি গাধাটিকে মেরে ফেলল।
One day, a foolish ass was roaming aimlessly in the forest. While passing across a path he saw something under a tree. He became curious and came near it. It was a lion's skin. For fun, the ass put on the skin and began to wander here and there. When he came to the bank of a stream, he stopped. He saw his reflection in the clear water. He was very happy and said to himself, "Aha! I look like a lion. Seeing me other animals will be struck with awe." He then went to the place where other animals had gathered. Seeing him the animals began to flee in fear. They were much frightened. The ass was very pleased. I can terrify them all", said he to himself Then he came to a fox. The clever fox did not run away. At this the' annoyed ass brayed to frighten him. And he was at once detected.
Now all the animals pounced on him and tore him to pieces.
Moral:None can befool all.
বাংলা অনুবাদঃ একদিন, এক বোকা গাধা এক জঙ্গলে লক্ষহীন ভাবে ঘুরে বেড়াচ্ছিল। পথে যেতে যেতে একটি গাছের তলায় সে কিছু একটা দেখতে পেল। সে কৌতূহলী হয়ে এগিয়ে গেল। এটা ছিল একটা সিংহের চামড়া। মজা করার জন্য গাধাটা চামড়া পড়ে নিয়ে এদিক-ওদিক ঘুরে বেড়াতে লাগল। নদীর ধারে এসে সে থামল। পরিষ্কার জলে সে তার প্রতিচ্ছবি দেখতে পেল। সে খুব খুশী হল ও নিজেকে বলল, “আহা! আমাকে একটা সিংহের মতই দেখতে। আমাকে দেখে সবাই সম্মান দেখাবে।” তারপর সে ওই জায়গাটায় গেল যেখানে পশুরা জড়ো হয়। তাকে দেখে পশুরা ভয়ে পালাতে শুরু করলো। তারা খুবই ভীত ছিল। গাধাটা খুব খুশী হল। সে নিজেকে বলল, “আমি সবাইকে ভয় দেখাতে পারি।” তারপর সে একটা শেয়ালের কাছে গেল। কিন্তু চালাক শেয়ালটা পালাল না। এতে বিরক্ত হয়ে গাধাটা ওকে ভয় দেখাবার জন্যে ডেকে ফেলল। অমনি সে ধরা পড়ে গেল।
এবার সবাই তার ওপর ঝাঁপিয়ে পড়ে তাকে টুকরো টুকরো করে ফেলল।
নীতি : কেউ সবাইকে বোকা বানাতে পারে না।

Ans. Once, a jackal was searching for food while roaming in a city. He was hungry and being chased by a group of dogs. While running, he fell into an indigo pot and stained blue all over. He was surprised by his own look. Taking advantage of the situation, the jackal went back to the jungle. All the animals were frightened by him and thought him as to be a new type of animal. But suddenly the fox cried in its natural voice. He got detected by other animal and they pounced on him.
একবার একটি শেয়াল শহরে ঘুরে খাবার খুঁজছিল। সে ক্ষুধার্ত ছিল ও একদল কুকুরের তাড়া খেল। দৌড়তে দৌড়তে সে গিয়ে একটা নীলভরতি পাত্রে গিয়ে পড়ল এবং পুরো নীল হয়ে উঠল। সে নিজেকে দেখে নিজেই অবাক হয়ে গেল। এই পরিস্থিতির সুযোগ নিয়ে সে জঙ্গলে ফিরে গেল। সব পশুরাই তাকে দেখে ভয় পাচ্ছিল ও তাকে নতুন কোনো পশু ভাবছিল। কিন্তু সে হঠাৎ ডেকে ফেলে ও ধরা পড়ে যায় অন্য পশুদের দ্বারা এবং তারা ঝাঁপিয়ে পড়ে ওর ওপর।
